2010 School Performance Report

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Student Voice

Reflecting upon the Student Forums held to date, I would like to share with you some of the insights into the life of St Therese School according to Students.

My best day was...
when I made new friends.
walking around our new running track in the Book Week Parade.
performing on stage in front of my family and friends.
when my buddy helped me out.
going on camp.
being with others at Assemblies sharing what they have done in class.
visiting the local wetlands.
taking my friend who was hurt to Mrs Pettersen.
getting all my spelling words correct. 100%.
going to the School Fete.

You may have already engaged in a discussion with your child about our discussions in the forums, if not I encourage you to ask them a question about our School Values, What made their best day at school possible or how they see their learning supported by digital resources in the future.

In the expression of our School Values, our challenge as parents and teachers is to listen deeply to the voice of our children and students, encouraging them to be the best they can be, by providing an environment that affirms and supports their development as well as provide new and exciting activities that challenge their thinking.

Having this most important time to listen to the individual voices of each student inspires and challenges my thinking as we continue our search for the very best opportunities for all students who attend St Therese School.

After School Sport Survey

We have received some responses to the after School Sports survey representing approximately 15% of School Families. The current findings indicate the following.

  * Maintaining the current sports offered.
  * Encourage more families to help with coaching, managing etc.
  * Develop a more co-ordinated approach to administering each sport / team.
  * Explore the possibility of other sports.

As this information will be used to plan for future After School Sports programs I encourage as many families as possible to participate in this survey. If you would prefer a hard copy of the survey please let Joyce know and we will send one home for you.

I would like to clarify the reason why we ask for your name on the survey. We need families to volunteer to coach, manage and possibly umpire games, and by indicating your availability we can contact you, without volunteers teams are not possible.

It would be appreciated if families could spend some time completing the online After School Sports survey at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/G8LHW3N

The survey will remain open until Friday 9 September.

Celebrating Father's Day

On Friday we will celebrate the significance Father's play in the development of the child with a special Breakfast of Croissants and Tea & Coffee for any Dad's / Carers and the opportunity of seeing your child engage in their learning at an Open Morning.

For catering purposes it would be appreciated if you could return an order form for breakfast if you are able to join us.

Looking forward to sharing this special day with you
